Korea Low Height Disability Association, Holds 23rd Annual Summer Camp with New Daesung Hospital
Korea Low Height Disability Association (formerly Korea Small Height Association. President Park Jeong-hye) held a summer camp at Bucheon Korea Hotel for two days from August 5th to 6th.
The Low Height Association summer camp, which started its first meeting on December 26, 2000 and marks its 23rd year this year, is a family camp for families with rare and intractable low height diseases across the country.
Bucheon New Daesung Hospital sponsored the accommodation and it was held at Bucheon Korea Hotel and Yain Era Outdoor Swimming Pool.
This summer camp included ▲Lectures (Dwarfism surgery/Medical Director Song Hae-ryong and Growth Hormone/Professor Nam Hyo-kyung of Korea University Guro Hospital) ▲Mentor Lectures (Musical actor Kim Yu-nam, Deputy Manager Lee Ji-young of Hanwha Aerospace) ▲ Job Experience ▲Dinner Banquet ▲Recreation ▲Talent Show ▲Night of Sharing ▲Night of Youth ▲Water Play, etc.
President Park Jeong-hye said, "Through this summer camp, families with low height diseases from all over the country had the opportunity to gather together and communicate, and it was great to provide children with the opportunity to meet role models with the same disease and leave happy memories."
Meanwhile, musical actor Kim Yu-nam, who gave the first mentor lecture, is President Park Jeong-hye's son, and the mother and son both have achondroplasia and are 110 cm tall. He overcame his disability and recently played the role of General Tom Thumb in the musical 'Barnum, The Greatest Showman,' and this is the first time in Korea that a real dwarfism actor has played the role.
The second mentor, Lee Ji-young, has achondroplasia, and overcame her dwarfism disability of 110 cm in height, graduated at the top of her class from the Department of Mass Communication at Hanyang University, joined the HR team at Samsung Techwin, and is currently working as a deputy manager in the Business Operations Team at Hanwha Aerospace. While working at Samsung, she gave many in-house lectures to new employees about her experiences overcoming disabilities, and recently published a book called "Inconvenient, but".
Bucheon New Daesung Hospital has established a cooperative system with the Korea Low Height Disability Association, a non-profit organization, for patients with rare and intractable dwarfism, and is providing surgery and treatment cost support through the Daesung Foundation Social Welfare Foundation for the healthy and happy lives of dwarfism patients.
