[Medical Today] Dwarfism Health Lecture 'Life with Short Stature'

Dr. Michael Ain (57), a pediatric orthopedic surgeon from Johns Hopkins University, and

his daughters Kyla (14) and Alexa (18). Dr. Ain is the world's only achondroplasia surgeon.

Dr. Michael Ain, a professor of pediatric orthopedics at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in the United States, is visiting Korea to hold a dwarfism health lecture. Korea University Guro Hospital announced on the 11th that Dr. Michael Ain and Dr. Song Hae-ryong will co-host a lecture on 'Life with Short Stature' at the 1st floor auditorium of the Biomedical Research Center of Korea University Guro Hospital on the 29th at the joint invitation of the Korea Federation of People with Short Stature. Dr. Michael Ain is a pediatric orthopedic professor who treats dwarfism, with a height of about 130cm and short arms and legs due to achondroplasia, a congenital disorder in which the growth plates of the arms and legs do not form. In this lecture, the doctor will share his efforts and passion he has built up until he has worked as a professor at America's best prestigious medical school, overcoming physical disabilities, and the latest treatments for short stature currently underway in the United States. In addition, five temporary clinics will be opened where Dr. Michael Ain will directly treat dwarfism patients who attended the lecture. Anyone with dwarfism or interested in dwarfism can attend the lecture and receive treatment after prior registration.

He has been invited to Korea to talk about his life with achondroplasia.

The seminar will be held together with Dr. Hae Ryong Song, a pediatric orthopedic surgeon from the Korea University Guro Hospital.

Achondroplasia is a disease resulting in absence of bone growth and as such, his height is 130 cm.

The speech will have a focus on Dr. Ain’s work, describing his passion and efforts in treating achondroplasia.

Furthermore, he will be sharing his experience in overcoming the challenges commonly faced by achondroplasts.

Five clinics are planned to be set up at the Guro Hospital to diagnose and treat achondroplasts at the seminar. Anyone who wishes to assist Dr. Ain with consultations should register and submit an expression of interest.
