Dr. Michael Ain, a professor of pediatric orthopedics at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, is visiting Korea to hold a dwarfism health lecture.
Korea University Guro Hospital announced on the 11th that Dr. Michael Ain and Professor Song Hae-ryong will co-host a lecture on 'Life with Short Stature' on the 1st floor of the Korea University Guro Hospital Biomedical Research Center on the 29th at the joint invitation of the Korea Low Height Disability Association.
Dr. Michael Ain is a pediatric orthopedic professor who treats dwarfism and has achondroplasia, a congenital cartilage aplasia that prevents the formation of growth plates in the arms and legs. His height is about 130 cm and he has short arms and legs.
In this lecture, he will share stories about his efforts and passion in becoming a professor at the best medical school in the United States despite his physical disability, and the latest treatments for short stature disabilities currently being conducted in the United States.
In addition, five temporary clinics will be opened for Dr. Michael Ain to directly treat dwarfism patients who attend the lecture. Anyone with dwarfism or interested in dwarfism can attend the lecture and receive treatment after pre-registration.

The seminar will be held together with Dr. Hae Ryong Song, a pediatric orthopedic surgeon from the Korea University Guro Hospital.
Achondroplasia is a disease resulting in absence of bone growth and as such, his height is 130 cm.
The speech will have a focus on Dr. Ain’s work, describing his passion and efforts in treating achondroplasia.
Furthermore, he will be sharing his experience in overcoming the challenges commonly faced by achondroplasts.
Five clinics are planned to be set up at the Guro Hospital to diagnose and treat achondroplasts at the seminar. Anyone who wishes to assist Dr. Ain with consultations should register and submit an expression of interest.
