[Below is a review left by a reader after reading 'Raising My Child's Height, Knowing as Much as You Can'.]
I have always had a complex about my height. I grew up at a disadvantage in many ways because I was too short compared to my peers. I was always unhappy with my height because I couldn't wear pretty clothes, and the shoes I wanted to wear were too big. After getting married and having a child, I became anxious that my height might be inherited by my child. So, I wanted to make sure my child received less stress than I did. My motivation for reading this book was very clear.
First of all, this book pointed out that some of the common knowledge we had was slightly wrong. The part about the myth that playing basketball makes you taller was impressive. Also, the myth that weightlifting prevents you from growing taller is also wrong. Basketball players are generally tall, so we think that the sport of basketball makes them taller, but in reality, height increases when genetic, nutritional, and environmental factors are all in harmony. In the case of weightlifting, we know that lifting heavy weights hinders height growth, but in fact, it can strengthen bones and promote growth. Of course, it doesn't forget to advise that you should refrain from lifting too heavy objects at a young age because it can put a strain on your bones.
Another advantage is that it tells you about height-increasing exercises and foods. The part that I liked the most was the introduction of height-increasing stretches. I don't sweat much, but I feel so flexible that I usually enjoy stretching. However, I was a little sad that I didn't know about useful stretches for increasing height during my school days. Regarding food, it says to avoid instant food and enjoy foods, vegetables, and fruits rich in vitamins. It's common sense that everyone knows, but it's actually not easy to eat. However, after reading this book, I decided to change my eating habits for my child.
In cases where food and exercise don't work, it even guides you on how to grow taller with growth hormones. I was very satisfied because this book introduced methods to increase height in more detail than I thought. If you are a parent or teenager who still has children who can grow taller, I would recommend you to read this book.
