“I definitely want to become a social worker and help people who are sick and in need, just like me."

As the inspiration of achieving dreams through the Olympics continues, Samjin Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (CEO Lee Seong-woo) is becoming a heartwarming topic by recently supporting surgery costs for a student battling a rare incurable disease to achieve their dream.

The beneficiary of the surgery cost support, which Samjin Pharmaceutical carried out by joining forces with doctors who enjoy photography as a hobby, is 18-year-old student Son Eun-tae. Son has a rare incurable disease called hypochondroplasia congenitally and is currently dependent on a wheelchair. Hypochondroplasia is a disease in which bones are weak and do not grow properly due to genetic causes.

Son has had several surgeries in the past, and in March, he suffered another leg fracture injury and needs to undergo surgery again. Eun-tae, whose family is a recipient of basic livelihood security, is pursuing his dream of becoming a social worker with his older sister, who also has the same rare disease and is currently majoring in social welfare at university.

To support the surgery costs, Samjin Pharmaceutical held the "Beautiful Love, Doctor's Photo Contest" online from May to July for three months, along with Son's heartbreaking story. Doctors from all over the country who are active as photographers usually submitted about 181 works, and Samjin Pharmaceutical has been accumulating a certain amount of funds into the Korea Rehabilitation Association for the Disabled's "Dodream Fund" each time photos were submitted and excellent works were recommended. The collected donation of 2,027,000 won was delivered to Son's mother in the presence of Dr. Song Hae-ryong, professor of orthopedics at Korea University Guro Hospital, Son's attending physician.

An official from Samjin Pharmaceutical, who delivered the love-sharing donation, said, "We are grateful to the many doctors across the country who submitted and recommended artwork photos to raise Son's precious surgery expenses." He added, "We hope that this small help will be a seed and that Son will quickly recover his health and achieve his dream of becoming a social worker."

Meanwhile, for two months in February and March, Samjin Pharmaceutical carried out extensive volunteer activities, with 650 executives and employees, including CEO Lee Seong-woo, visiting underprivileged facilities across the country, and continues to support surgery expenses for children with incurable diseases through the Love Sharing Doctor Photo Exhibition every year.
