Chinese couple visits Korea University Guro Hospital for their child's congenital hip dislocation treatment

[Kuki News = Reporter Kim Danbi] The guardian of a Chinese child who successfully underwent hip dislocation correction surgery at Korea University Guro Hospital sent a letter of appreciation to the medical staff.
Tang Xinjun (33 years old)'s son, Tang Boyan (10 years old), suffered from a congenital disease called "spondyloepiphyseal dysplasia." Spondyloepiphyseal dysplasia is a rare and intractable disease caused by genetic mutations, causing severe short stature, spinal deformities, hip deformities, ophthalmic diseases such as severe myopia and retinal detachment, and symptoms such as cleft palate.
Worried about the child's uncomfortable walking and slow growth, Mr. and Mrs. Tang Xinjun visited large hospitals in China, Hong Kong, and Japan for treatment, but none of them took care of the child's treatment.
The couple sought out Professor Song Hae-ryong, a specialist in rare and intractable diseases at Korea University Guro Hospital.
The hospital said, "Last June, Tang Boyan successfully underwent surgery by Professor Song and has been focusing on rehabilitation treatment since August, and the surgical progress is rapidly improving to the point where he can now walk on his own."
In a lengthy letter, Mr. Tang Xinjun said, "I am happy that our child came to Korea and overcame his congenital disease and found a smile," and "I am deeply grateful to the medical staff at Korea University Guro Hospital for giving our family hope and confidence."
Professor Song, who received the letter, said, "Tang Boyan may need hip re-correction surgery 4 to 5 years after the surgery, depending on the progression of the disease," and "Thank you for sending a sincere letter despite the difficult nursing of your child in a foreign country."
